Bill Deftos is responsible for the origination and execution of RPO’s debt strategies. His experience spans both the commercial real estate and corporate finance arenas having held positions in private lending, investment banking and credit company environments. Prior to joining Next Realty, Mr. Deftos held the position of Director - Capital Markets at Wrightwood Capital, a commercial real estate investment company with over $2.0 billion of assets under management. In that role, he focused on sourcing structured debt investments across all property types and loan syndication. Additional responsibilities included the management of senior lending relationships, fund raising and investor relations.

Prior to joining Wrightwood Capital in 2003, Mr. Deftos held positions with GE Capital Corporation and Jesup & Lamont Securities Corp. During his tenure at Jesup & Lamont Securities Corp, Mr. Deftos was a member of the Corporate Finance team focusing on public and private corporate financings and M&A. While at GE Capital Corporation, he worked in the middle market corporate lending division and spent time overseas in Southeast Asia with a GE Capital and Goldman Sachs joint venture purchasing distressed financial assets from the Financial Sector Restructuring Authority of Thailand and establishing a collateral recovery platform (Bangkok Capital Alliance Co., Ltd).

Mr. Deftos is an active board member of Real Estate Lenders Association – Chicago Chapter and is affiliated with the International Council of Shopping Centers, Urban Land Institute and the Mortgage Bankers Association.  He attended Seton Hall University (South Orange, NJ) on athletic scholarship where he received a BS in finance. 
Originally from Boston (MA), Mr. Deftos currently resides in Hinsdale (IL) with his wife and three sons.
