Habitat Company/NR Renovates Kingsbury Retail Center in Chicago - CVS Pharmacy, Ace Hardware are to Anchor Complex
Chicago, IL (February 11, 2005) - Andrew Hochberg, managing principal, Next Realty LLC, announced the completion of major renovation of Kingsbury Center, located in Chicago’s River North area.
The transformation has resulted in two new tenants at the retail center: CVS Pharmacy, the nation’s largest drugstore chain, and Ace Hardware, the Oak Brook, Ill.-based industry leader.
“As River North is one of Chicago fastest developing residential neighborhoods, Next is proud to partner with these two top brand names in providing two essential retail services for any community – the local pharmacy and the local hardware store,” Hochberg said.
CVS will open an 11,000 square foot full-service pharmacy on the buildings main floor and Ace will fill 12,000 square feet in the lower level. Richard Kahan of KB Associates represented Ace Hardware. CVS was represented by Interstate Commercial.
Built in 1988, the six-story Kingsbury Center at the northwest corner of Hubbard and Orleans has five floors of office space in addition to the retail area. It is managed by The Habitat Company. The transformation of the retail space, which included moving escalators and creating a new entrance on Orleans, began in early 2004.
Kingsbury Center is a joint venture partnership between the Hochberg family, Daniel Levin, and other Habitat Company executives. DZA Architects designed the new space with DeJames Construction as the contractor.
